Eressos sweet as a caramel
Caramel sweet was the aftertaste of the 3rd Lesvos Food Fest on the beach of Skala Eressos. The Eressian caramel toffee was the honored ingredient, on which the Eressos Tourism Association based the local events of this year’s Lesvos Food Fest.
This year our guest in Eressos was the distinguished Chef Manolis Papoutsakis, who cooked delicious recipes both days of the Lesvos Food Fest in Eressos with the help of young and old. The Chef achieved the perfect integration of the traditional caramel toffee into savory and sweet recipes. The Cretan Kostis Kostakis helped him as well and this way Chania and Lasithi came together and collaborated in the most “delicious” way here in Eressos.
Moreover, there was a demonstration of the traditional way of making the Eressian caramel toffee, while dancing lessons of the Kantrilies took place as well. The event came to an end with singing, delicious food and of course ouzo on the beach of Skala Eressos.
The board of directors of the Association would like to thank every one of the volunteers for their ongoing support. They truly showed that working unselfishly as a team with passion we can have the best result possible for our common cause, the development and promotion of our place.
We greatly thank: the bakery Konstantinos Taktikos and Ms. Cassandra Karakousi for the making of the traditional caramel toffee and the treats, the Cultural Association “Fanias” for the reviving Kantrilies with their dancing team and the choir “Melirritos” and Ms. Stacey Miller for kindly allowing us to use her property as our meeting place for the events. A special thanks to Mr. Kostas Agopian, who professed once again his love for our village, Eressos.
